JetHawks Take Finale, Series in Visalia

VISALIA, Calif. - The JetHawks scored four runs in the fifth inning to take their first lead of the game and cruised the rest of the way in an 8-2 rubber game win over the Visalia Rawhide on Monday afternoon at Recreation Park.

Carlos Herrera delivered the go-ahead hit with two outs in the fifth, lining a single to right field that plated two. The four-run rally started with a Luis Castro walk. Brian Serven then bunted a for a hit before Herrera's single two batters later. Tyler Nevin followed with a two-run double to put the JetHawks (18-14, 51-51) up 5-2.

Castro singled again in the sixth and scored on a Serven double. Serven added another single in the eighth to finish off his first four-hit game of the season. Many Melendez delivered a two-run triple in the eighth to cap the scoring for Lancaster.

Castro was the catalyst in three innings for the JetHawks. He doubled to start the third inning and scored the club's first run of the game on a Max George sac-fly. The run tied the game at that point after Pavin Smith's solo home run off Lancaster starter Logan Longwith in the second inning. Ramon Hernandez led off the bottom of the third with a solo shot to give Visalia the lead again.

Logan Longwith allowed two runs over 3.2 innings in his third start off the disabled list. Heath Holder (7-0) relieved him in the fourth and got the final out before tossing two more scoreless frames.

Bryan Baker and Justin Lawrence finished the game out of the bullpen.

Cole Stapler (0-3) took the loss for Visalia after allowing six runs on nine hits over six innings.

The win gave Lancaster a second-consecutive series win for the first time since April. They finished the road trip at 4-2 and head home to take on the Lake Elsinore Storm in the first game of a three-game series and six-game homestand

Antonio Santos (1-1) is scheduled to start the series-opener against the Storm on Tuesday night. Reggie Lawson (6-3) is slated to take the mound for Lake Elsinore. First pitch is 6:35 p.m. at The Hangar.
