
JetHawks sweep Blaze with 6-4 win

(Bakersfield, CA) - Jon Castellanos allowed two runs over seven innings as the JetHawks beat the Bakersfield Blaze 6-4 on Thursday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark. The win improves the JetHawks to 32-28 in the second half and 69-61 overall for the year.
Trailing 2-0, the JetHawks took the lead in the game after scoring three runs in the top of the fourth inning. Alex Frazier and Jay Garthwaite both had run scoring doubles in the inning.
Lancaster used two hits and three walks to score two more runs in the seventh.
The JetHawks starting pitchers turned in a third straight solid outing in the series. On Thursday night, Castellanos (9-2) gave up two runs on six hits over his seven innings of work to earn the victory.
Kenny Perez was forced out of the game in the seventh inning with an ankle injury he suffered running to second base. Perez is expected to likely miss the next three games.
Neb Brown singled in his 16th run of the year for the JetHawks in the eighth.
The JetHawks sweep of the three-game series from the Blaze was the first time the JetHawks have swept a series at Sam Lynn Ballpark since June,1998.
Lancaster also wins the season series from the Blaze for the first time since the 1998 season.
The JetHawks return home on Friday night to open a three-game series against the High Desert Mavericks. Chad Scarbery will make the start for the JetHawks and John Gragg will go to the mound for the Mavericks in the 7:00 P.M. game.
