Jethawks Rout Rancho 21-6, Advance to South Finals

LANCASTER, Calif.- Jason Martin hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in seven to lead the JetHawks in a series-clinching 19-4 rout of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in Game 3 on Friday night at The Hangar.
Martin 's grand slam, which came with two out, capped a six-run third inning for the JetHawks and gave them a lead they would not relinquish. Down 3-0 entering the frame, Osvaldo Duarte put the JetHawks on the board with a two-run homer.
One night after five players went deep seven times for the JetHawks in Game 2, four different players combined for five homers in Game 3. Lancaster scored 38 runs in the final two games of the series at The Hangar. The failed to score in just four innings combined over the course of the two contests.
Brandon Trinkwon, in his first start of the series, led off the fourth inning with a home run off Lancaster starter Akeem Bostick to cut the JetHawks ' lead to 6-4. Back-to-back singles by eight and nine batters Will Smith and Ariel Sandoval followed, putting runners on first and third with nobody out. Bostick responded by striking out Erick Mejia and Michael Ahmed, before Noah Perio flied out to left to end the threat.
The top of the fourth inning turned out to be the last stand for the Quakes. Lancaster immediately followed their six-run third with a five-run bottom of the fourth. Osvaldo Duarte, Johnny Sewald, Aaron Mizell, and Jason Martin all drove in runs.
Kyle Tucker and Jason Martin each hit two-run homers in the sixth inning. Bryan Muniz blasted a three-run shot in the seventh.
Akeem Bostick (1-0) recovered from a rocky beginning to toss six and two-thirds innings and earn the win. The right-hander allowed four runs on seven hits with three walks and three strikeouts. He retired 11 in a row beginning with the first out in the fourth inning. Ralph Garza and Juan Santos closed out the series on the mound for Lancaster. Garza struck out three in an inning and a third.
The JetHawks advance to the South Division Finals for the fourth time in five years. They will meet the High Desert Mavericks, who earned a playoff bye courtesy of their first half championship. Games 1 and 2 are in Adelanto at Heritage Field, beginning Saturday night. First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
The series concludes on Friday night at The Hangar. Akeem Bostick will start for Lancaster against Adam Bray. First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
