Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(STOCKTON, CA) - The JetHawks repeatedly battled back but in the end came up on clutch hit short Tuesday night against the Stockton Ports. Down by six early, the JetHawks got back to within one, then loaded the bases in the ninth inning before dropping the contest 9-8. Lancaster left seven men on base over the final three innings and get swept by the Ports, losing the last two games by one run each.

Coming off back-to-back wins, Lancaster starter Leandro Cespedes struggled. He gave up six runs over the first two innings and left in the fifth having surrendered nine runs total. The JetHawks made a big rally in the fifth inning to make sure the game would stay close. A five run frame was highlighted by Brandon Barnes' three-run homer that helped pull the JetHawks to within one.

After Stockton ran the lead back to three, the JetHawks chipped away again. They loaded the bases in the seventh inning but scored just once. A RBI single by Matt Weston in the ninth inning made it a one-run game once more and the JetHawks loaded the bases again before the final out was recoreded.

Barnes had two hits to go with his three runs driven in while Craig Corrado continued his strong play with a pair of RBI singles. T.J. Steele and Marcos Cabral each had two hits as well. Jose Duran turned in three and 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
