Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(LANCASTER, CA) - The JetHawks used both speed and power to get past the Lake Elsinore Storm 9-8 in the first game of a three game set Friday night at Clear Channel Stadium. The JetHawks are now 12-14 in the second half and close to just 3 ½ games of Lake Elsinore.
Lake Elsinore scored first, collecting two runs in the first. The JetHawks answered back in the bottom of the first, a sac fly off the bat of Carlos Gonzalez scored Emilio Bonifacio and then Brandon Burgess hit a two run shot over the center field wall to give the JetHawks the 3-2 advantage. The Two teams traded runs in the middle innings and at the end of 6 ½ Lake Elsinore was out in front 8-7. An intentional pass was issued to Burgess to load the bases in the bottom of the seventh for Jereme Milons. Milons came through for Lancaster with a single up the middle to score both Chris Rahl and Gonzalez and give the JetHawks a lead they would not relinquish at 9-8.
Mark Rosen worked two innings in relief to earn his second win of the season. Closer Matt Elliott need only one pitch to retire pinch hitter Matt Hagen with two outs in the ninth and earn his 18th save of the season. Emilio Bonifacio went 4-5 in the game with a bunt single and a stolen base. Bonifacio leads the California League with 41 stolen bases on the season.
