LANCASTER, Calif. - After facing a six-run deficit, the JetHawks rallied late to come within one run of the High Desert Mavericks but could not complete the comeback in a 7-6 loss on Saturday night at The Hangar.

Austin Chrismon (7-4) struggled through four-plus innings in the game, taking the loss after yielding six runs on 10 hits and two walks. The defeat allowed the Mavericks (77-61) to clinch first place and earn home field advantage in the South Division mini-series.

James Ramsay led the JetHawks (74-64) at the plate with three hits, and Brian Holberton went 2-for-3 and with two runs scored while driving in two.

Trailing 7-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, Lancaster got a RBI-single from J.D. Davis off Trey Lambert (9-3). With Felix Carvallo on the mound in relief for High Desert in the seventh, Chase McDonald led off with a walk and advanced to third on a Ramsay double, and both scored on a Holberton double to left field. After a Marc Wik infield single, Ryan Ledbetter replaced Carvallo. A groundout advanced both runners before Holberton scored on a throwing error by third baseman Tripp Martin, and Wik scored from third on a wild pitch.

Lambert received the win for the Mavericks, limiting the JetHawks to two runs on five hits over six innings. Ledbetter recorded the save as Lancaster left the tying run stranded in both the seventh and eighth innings.

High Desert scored two runs off Chrismon in the first inning on an Evan Van Hoosier RBI-triple and a Joe Jackson sacrifice fly. The JetHawks cut the deficit to one run in the bottom of the third, when Holberton led off with a double, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a sacrifice fly by Sean McMullen.

But High Desert extended its lead to four runs in the fourth on a two-run homer by Martin and a Chris Garia RBI-triple.

With Steve Naemark pitching in relief for Lancaster, Seth Spivey contributed a sacrifice fly in the fifth and David Lyon hit a solo home run in the sixth.

Naemark allowed just one run on two hits and struck out four across four innings of work for the JetHawks.

The series continues on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. Akeem Bostick (5-4, 6.55) will start for the JetHawks against High Desert's David Perez (4-2, 4.59).
