Northford, CT - Jessica Koizumi has signed a contract with the Connecticut Whale for the 2016-17 season, General Manager Lisa Giovanelli announced Wednesday. Koizumi and the Whale agreed to terms on a one-year, $14,000 contract.

Koizumi scored 7 points (2g, 5a) in 15 games during the Whale's regular season, and added another assist in their three Isobel Cup playoff games. The forward was named the first captain in team history early in the 2015-16 season.

"I'm excited to re-sign with the Whale for year two!" Koizumi said. "I am looking forward to joining our core group from last season and welcoming the new additions."

"Our last season was cut short with a disappointing playoff run and we have unfinished business in bringing the Isobel Cup to Connecticut," she continued. "I hope our fans will follow us to our new venue in Northford because they are the best in the league!"

Restricted free agency began April 1 and lasted until April 30. Free agency began May 1 and lasts until July 31. The 2016 NWHL Draft is June 18.
