Jersey Express News Release
On Sunday night, the Jersey Express defeated the New York Charters at Manhattan Science High School, 147-93, to improve to 2-1 on the season and win its second game in two days, following a 98-94 victory over the Staten Island Vipers on Saturday.
Guard Darren Travis was the leading scorer for the Express, pouring in 35 points on the night. He was nearly perfect from three-point range, as he shot 8-of-9 from downtown. Forward Dexter Gray was dominant in the paint, scoring 20 points and grabbing 20 rebounds, while dishing out six assists. Guards Sedale Walton and Edgardo Torres each added 23 points. In total, the Express had six players in double figures.
"I was very proud and excited by how the team played on Sunday coming off of an emotional home opener," said head coach Joe Amador. "Dexter Gray set the tone from the state, establishing a presence on the inside and finishing with 20 points and 20 rebounds."
The Express return home on Friday, December 2, as they look to take down the New York Charters once again. All of the Express home games are played at the team's home court, the Jersey City Armory, located on 678 Montgomery Street, Jersey City, N.J. Halftime entertainment for the December 2 game against the Charters will be D. Jackson. For tickets, visit http://jerseyexpress.net/schedule/.
