Jersey Express News Release
East Orange, N.J. (Friday, August 13, 2010) - The Jersey Express of the American Basketball Association officially announced today that it will host, along with the West Orange Boys & Girls Club, a youth basketball camp on Wednesday, September 8th. The camp, which will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m., will be hosted at the Boys & Girls Club of West Orange.
"We are looking forward to reaching out to the local community and are hoping this will possibly be the start of many more camps and clinics to come," Express head coach Casaundra Smith stated. "We hope to get the kids from this year to agree to come back next year and do it all over again. That way, we can begin to form a bond that can continue into the future."
Coach Smith will serve as co-coordinator of the camp, with Express players also on board to run the drills and training. The clinic will be open for both boys and girls between the ages of 8-18. Players of all skill levels are encouraged to come out and take part in this special evening.
Anyone interesting in co-hosting the Express camp or having the team make an appearance at an upcoming event can contact Coach Smith today at 1-800-533-6481 or via email at coachsmith@jerseyexpress.net.
The Jersey Express will also be holding open tryouts for its 2010-11 roster at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 28th, and the cost is $100 (money order only) if players register before Friday, August 27th. On the day of the tryouts, the cost to participate will be $125, and cash will be the only accepted form of payment. Registration for tryouts will start promptly at 3:00 p.m. and close at 3:45 p.m. The address for the host site of East Orange Campus High School is 344 Prospect Street in East Orange, New Jersey, and anyone interested in pre-registering can do so online at www.jerseyexpress.net.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
