Jersey Express lends support to Newark Charitable Organization

August 28th, 2008 - The Jersey Express will be lending its support to United Initiatives for Peace, Inc, and the City of Newark for its 1st annual Scholars for Ballers 3 on 3 girl's basketball tournament, being held on Saturday, August 30th. United Initiatives for Peace, Inc. is a global non-profit organization that collaborates with a variety of institutions (charitable, governmental, religious, educational, medical, corporate) to establish philanthropic and humanitarian service projects dedicated to the holistic evolution of the human race. UIP's purpose is to assist high need communities challenged with economic instability, gang violence, natural disasters, political unrest, and religious conflict through innovative solutions designed to sustain peaceful and thriving communities. UIP's primary focus is to create opportunities and constructive programs for underprivileged youth by promoting higher education and offering services to empower their future. This is a first of its kind being held in Newark, NJ, and we have the Honorable Mayor Cory Booker to thank for it. The Jersey Express will be co-hosting, providing the game balls, and the players will be serving as guest referees.
The tournament will be held at St. Peters Park, 378 Lyons Ave, Newark, NJ 07112. Hope to see you Saturday to support a great organization, and a great cause.
