
Jersey Express Hires Dwayne 'Baritone' Francis

East Orange, N.J. (Thursday, November 19, 2009) - With its season opener coming this Saturday night at East Orange High School, the Jersey Express announce today that entertainment veteran Dwayne Francis has been hired as its new Director of Marketing and Sponsorship Sales. Francis, who is commonly known as Baritone, takes over the position for the team, effective immediately.
"Dwayne is a successful businessman in the field of marketing, and his role is to build the Jersey Express brand and make the Jersey Express as well known in New Jersey as the NBA's New Jersey Nets," Express President Marsha Blount said. "Marketing is what he does, and we wanted to bring in a professional in his field to help take us to the next level. Look out for a major announcement from him regarding upcoming events."
Francis is the owner/operator of BuzzThis.net, an internet-based company that provides an online forum to various platforms in the entertainment industry. Quickly jumping into his new position, Francis has already secured recording artist China Blizzie to perform at halftime of the Express home opener this Saturday against the NYC Thunder.
"I am excited to be a part of the Jersey Express organization," Francis stated. "My background is in Viral Marketing/Digital Promotions, on and offline, while working in the entertainment industry with BuzzThis.Net. As the Director of Marketing of the Jersey Express, I plan to enhance this organization visibility through creative marketing opportunities, making the Jersey Express brand one of the premier teams in the ABA."
The theme surrounding the evening will be an Anti-Violence Night of Entertainment, with the Express encouraging everyone to help them "Shoot Out Violence." Express head coach and Irvington Detective Quaasim Austin will also be hosting his birthday celebration at the home opener as well.
Tipoff for the home opener is at 7:00 p.m. The Express have a special ticket offer going right now that gives a half-priced ticket to kids 16 and under with the purchase of an adult ticket for the full price of $10. The Jersey Express is a member of the American Basketball Association and is currently preparing for their fifth season in the ABA. Quaasim Austin is the head coach of the Express with Casaundra Smith serving as his assistant coach, and the team will play their home schedule this year at East Orange Campus High School. The Express made the playoffs in each of their past two seasons and reached the ABA Elite Eight last year in Nashville, Tennessee.
