Jersey Express News Release

Newark, N.J. (Tuesday, August 25, 2009) - The Jersey Express of the American Basketball Association announced today that they will play the home contests of their 2009-10 season at the East Orange Campus High School, which is the old Upsala College campus. This opportunity comes to the Express in conjunction with the work of Derrick Johnson, who is the head coach of the women's basketball program at East Orange High School.

"I'm extremely excited about the partnership with East Orange Campus High School," Express President Marsha Blount stated. "The 2,100 seat venue is well equipped for our live CSPN radio show and for TV broadcasts."

The Express will not only play their home games at East Orange High School, but they will also have the students and faculty of the school involved with the organization.

"We'll have the students involved with everything from radio, ticket sales, statistics, game day operations and more," Blount continued. "This will truly be a partnership, with the kids learning first-hand what it takes to operate a professional sports franchise. We'd like to thank Dr. Kelvin Harris, Principal of E.O. Campus High School, and Coach Johnson for seeing the possibilities for the school, students and East Orange Community."

The Express will also be providing fundraising opportunities for the Jaguar basketball teams through both season and individual ticket sales. East Orange High School is located at 340 Prospect Street in East Orange, New Jersey.

The Jersey Express is a member of the American Basketball Association and is currently preparing for their fifth season in the ABA. Quaasim Austin is the head coach of the Express with Cassandra Smith serving as his assistant coach. The team has made the playoffs in each of their past two seasons and reached the ABA Elite Eight last year in Nashville, Tennessee. The Express will open their 2009-10 season on Saturday, November 21st, when they host the New York City Thunder at 7:00 p.m. Season and opening ticket tickets are available now, and they can be obtained through the team website at www.jerseyexpress.net.
