
Jersey Express Announce 2009-10 Home Schedule

East Orange, N.J. (Tuesday, October 6, 2009) - The Jersey Express of the American Basketball Association unveiled their 2009-10 home schedule today, revealing that the team will tip off their fifth season of play on Saturday, November 21st, against the NYC Thunder at East Orange Campus High School. The 2009-10 ABA schedule will run from November until March, and the Express will play a 30-game spilt with 15 contests being played at home.
"I am extremely excited and looking forward to a great start to an exciting season," Express head coach Quaasim Austin commented. "Now we need the community to 'Jump on Board'."
The Express players also shared the same sentiments of their head coach.
"I can't wait for the season to begin," guard Antoinne Morgano said. "Ever since I was signed, I've been waiting for the start of the season. I've talked to my teammates, and we just want to win a championship for our fans. I hope they come out and support us."
Former New Jersey City University standout Samar Battle agreed.
"I'm ready for camp to begin, he anxiously stated. "I'm ready to get in the gym and get it done."
Season and opening ticket tickets are available now, and they can be obtained through the team website at www.jerseyexpress.net. All Express home games will also be broadcasted live via the Newark Radio Series.

The Jersey Express will be holding their final open tryouts for the 2009-10 season from 11-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18th, at the Westside Park Gym in Newark. Pre-registration for tryouts is available through the Jersey Express website at www.jerseyexpress.net, and the cost for early registration is $75. The fee on the day of tryouts will be $100, with only cash being accepted that day. Players interested in trying out should wear basketball attire and be prepared to do a number of drills that will focus on both skill and overall knowledge of the game. As more information is made available regarding tryouts, it will be posted to the Express website.
The Jersey Express is a member of the American Basketball Association and is currently preparing for their fifth season in the ABA. Quaasim Austin is the head coach of the Express with Cassandra Smith serving as his assistant coach, and the team will play their home schedule this year at East Orange Campus High School. The Express made the playoffs in each of their past two seasons and reached the ABA Elite Eight last year in Nashville, Tennessee.
