Jersey Express News Release

East Orange, N.J. (Friday, September 11, 2009) - The Jersey Express continue to fill their roster as they make preparations for their fifth season of play in the American Basketball Association, announcing today the addition of guard Troy Goodman. The Newark product gives the Express a diverse leader on the floor, and he looks to make an immediate impact to an already highly-talented roster.

"One thing we know is that Newark has an abundance of guards, with one always feeling he has more to offer than the other," Express assistant coach Cassandra Smith stated. "There is only one difference with Troy: he will get his opportunity to prove himself. Everyone knows it takes a premier guard to run a professional team. Now, everyone will know Troy."

Goodman was acquired via an open tryout last month in Newark, and the Central High School graduate made an immediate impression on the Express coaching staff. He stands six-feet tall and has traveled all over the country playing basketball on various levels. He played college basketball at Los Angeles Pierce Junior College and previously signed on to run the floor at Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity," Goodman commented after signing with the Express. "I'm going to give 110 percent so I can achieve my goal, and that is to go overseas."

The Jersey Express is a member of the American Basketball Association and is currently preparing for their fifth season in the ABA. Quaasim Austin is the head coach of the Express with Cassandra Smith serving as his assistant coach, and the team will play their home schedule this year at East Orange Campus High School. The Express made the playoffs in each of their past two seasons and reached the ABA Elite Eight last year in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Express will open their 2009-10 season on Saturday, November 21st, when they host the New York City Thunder at 7:00 p.m. Season and opening ticket tickets are available now, and they can be obtained through the team website at www.jerseyexpress.net.
