Jarvis Varnado Named NBA Development League Performer of the Week

NEW YORK, Dec. 3 2012 - Jarvis Varnado of the Sioux Falls Skyforce was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Nov. 23 - Dec. 2

A 6-9, 210-pound forward out of Mississippi State, who had been in training camp with the Miami Heat, Varnado led Sioux Falls to a 3-0 record for the week, averaging 15.7 points to go along with 9.3 rebounds and a league-high 5.7 blocks.

Varnado has tallied 17 blocks through the opening three games of the season. In the Sioux Falls season opener against Iowa, he recorded a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. On Nov. 30, in a 118-111 win at Springfield, he tallied 21 points to go along with eight blocks.

Other top performers considered include Austin's Justin Dentmon, who averaged 18.3 points and 4.8 rebounds; Bakersfield's Renaldo Major, who averaged 18.7 points and 2.7 steals; Canton's Kevin Jones, who averaged 23.6 points and 12.6 rebounds; Erie's D.J. Kennedy, who averaged 18.0 points and 8.7 rebounds; Fort Wayne's Ron Howard, who averaged 21.0 points and 5.0 rebounds; Idaho's Durrell Summers, who averaged 20.5 points and 5.5 rebounds; Iowa's Chris Wright, who averaged 19.0 points and 8.0 assists; Los Angeles' Darius Johnson-Odom, who averaged 21.7 points and 6.0 assists; Maine's Micah Downs, who averaged 20.5 points and 7.3 rebounds; Rio Grande Valley's Jeff Adrien, who averaged 16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds; Reno's Garrett Temple, who averaged 16.3 points and 3.5 rebounds; Santa Cruz's Stefhon Hannah, who averaged 18.0 points; Springfield's James Mays, who averaged 19.0 points and 13.0 rebounds; Sioux Falls' Andrew Goudelock, who averaged 23.7 points; Texas' Chris Douglas-Roberts, who averaged 27.8 points; and Tulsa's Daniel Orton, who averaged 13.7 points and 11.0 rebounds.
