Super swingman Ja'Myrin Jackson of the Windsor Express, one of the league's most versatile players, has been named NBL Canada Sixth Man of the Year, league officials announced today.

"It has been fun to watch Ja'Myrin turn a training camp opportunity into becoming the best sixth man in the league," said Express head coach Bill Jones. "Every time this young man enters the gym, he enters with a lot of energy. During the game, he watches carefully, sees what the team needs in a given moment, then when he gets his opportunity, comes in to support the team with a big shot and even bigger energy. All the credit goes to this hard-working kid for this award."

In 2023, the 6-foot-4-inch guard finished the season averaging 15.9 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, while leading the league in three-pointers made with 80. He was twice named NBL Canada Player of the Week, Jan. 22 and Feb. 12.

Prior to Windsor, the Lansing, Mich., native played at Lansing (Mich.) Community College before stints with Flint United and the Lansing Pharaohs of The Basketball League (TBL). This is his debut season in the NBL Canada.

"Time after time this season, Ja'Myrin showed up in a big way for Windsor," said Audley Stephenson, NBL Canada Commissioner. "He is a hug spark coming off the bench. He's a player who never shied away from taking the big shot or finding his moment to make a difference in the game. Any coach, any team would be lucky to have a Ja'Myrin coming off the bench for them."

Jackson is the first member of the Windsor Express to win the award. Previous winners of the NBL Canada Sixth Man of the Year Award include:

2011-12 | Eddie Smith, London Lightning
