Jamestown outlasts Soo, 3-2

The game between the Jamestown Ironmen and the Soo Eagles was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Jamestown emerged with a 3-2 win.

The Ironmen gained the winning advantage on a goal by Aaron Scheppelman 19:56 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Jamestown was paced by Scheppelman, who tallied one goal.

The Ironmen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Soo power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Jamestown's offense was clicking better than usual and put 45 shots on goal during the game, better than the 29.3 shots per game it averages.

Jamestown additionally got points from Daniel Cesarz, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dylan Zink also scored for Jamestown. In addition, Jamestown received assists from Tyler Dunagan, who had two and Tyler Minx, Evan Ritt, and Luc Gerdes, who contributed one a piece.

Soo kept the Ironmen's goalie busy throughout the game, and Joe Ballmer made 42 saves on 44 shots.

The Eagles were helped by Chris Waterstreet, who registered one goal. Waterstreet scored 4:39 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Matt Menta picked up the assist. Soo also got a goal from Sean Murphy as well. More assists for Soo came via Kyle Froese, Brandon Adams, and Jared VanWormer, who each chipped in one.

Jamestown incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tyler Marble made 42 saves for Soo on 45 shots. The Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
