July 25, 2003 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
La Crosse Night Train News Release
James Kerwin, the current head coach of the Kansas Koyotes (APFL), became the second candidate to interview for the Night Train's head coaching vacancy today. Kerwin is one of three remaining candidates that will interview for the job over the next two weeks. Night Train Offensive Coordinator Darryl Henry was the first to interview last week.
Kerwin had great success as a defensive coordinator with the Lincoln Lightning and the IPFL-Champion Tennessee Thundercats, guiding both squads to the #1-ranked defense in their respective leagues. Kerwin was set to be the Head Coach of the Kansas Koyotes in the National Indoor Football League, but the team was not selected as an expansion franchise in 2003.
Kerwin was a scholarship athlete as a fullback at the University of Nebraska before moving to UW-Oshkosh. He went on to serve as an assistant coach with UW-Oshkosh and also spent time in the college ranks with Emporia State University.
Bud Keyes and Dick Adams will be the final two candidates to interview. Keyes will be in La Crosse on Monday, July 28, and Adams will visit La Crosse on Monday, August 4.
