Jacksonville Acquires Wide Receiver L.J. Castile

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced Thursday that wide receiver LJ Castile was assigned to the active roster. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Castile (6'3", 225) enters his sixth season in the AFL and first with the Jacksonville Sharks. A veteran to the Arena Football League Castile played for the New Orleans Voodoo, Utah Blaze and LA KISS. During his career he has recorded 235 receptions for 2982 yards and 72 touchdowns. Making an impact on both sides of the ball, Castile has had 37.5 total tackles, three forced fumbles and one interception during his career in AFL.

During his College Career the Texas native attended the University of Houston for three years and spent his senior season at Delta State University. Between his time as a Cougar and Statesman, Castile totaled for 127 receptions, 1,754 receiving yards, 29 touchdowns and led Delta State to the Division II National Championship game. In his single year with the Statesmen, Castile lead in all receiving categories at Delta State with 67 catches for 900 yards and 13 touchdowns.

A native of La Marque, Texas, Castile attended La Marque High School where he led his team to a 13-1 record and a Regional Championship his senior year as a quarterback. Before committing to the University of Houston, Castile earned MVP and Player of the Year awards at La Marque High throwing for 2,355 yards, 33 touchdowns, rushing for 1,005 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns in only two seasons.
