Sounders Face Redhawks In Back-to-Back Days

Sat. At Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell; Sun. At French Field in Kent

The Seattle Sounders and the Seattle University men?s soccer team face off in two exhibition matches this weekend. Hosted by local youth soccer associations, these exhibition matches provide the new faces on the Sounders? roster a chance to learn Brian Schmetzer?s system while injured veterans have the opportunity to heal before the club?s 2006 Home Opener on May 13th.

On Saturday, April 29th the Sounders and S.U. Redhawks play at Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell at 7pm; then on Sunday, April 30th the two sides square off at Kent?s French Field at 5:30pm. Prior to both matches, the Sounders will host pre-game soccer clinics for children who?ve purchased tickets to the match.

Galindo Hopes To Be Back By Chivas USA Match

The Sounders were missing several key starters from last Sunday?s 2006 season opening loss in Minnesota against the Thunder. Not making the trip due to injuries were both veteran defenders Danny Jackson and Zach Scott, Forward Maykel Galindo and Midfielder Andrew Gregor.

Just weeks removed from injures both Jackson and Gregor have begun training with the team, preparing for a return as late as May 13th for the Sounders 2006 Home Opener against the Minnesota Thunder at Qwest Field. Zach Scott and Galindo look to return to action for the exhibition match against Chivas USA on May 7th.

Burpo & Whitfield Return To Seattle

The Sounders face former teammates Preston Burpo and Brent Whitfield and Major League Soccer?s Chivas USA in an exhibition match on Sunday May 7th at Qwest Field at 6pm. Chivas USA?s roster includes a handful of international players including Mexican National Team members Francisco Palencia and Ramon Ramirez as well as U.S. National Teamer John O?Brien.
