East Texas PumpJacks News Release

The East Texas Pump Jacks are giving fans a chance to take home a piece of history - before it even becomes history.

Pump Jacks fans can win game-worn jerseys from players and coaches at "Shirt Off Our Back" Night this Thursday, August 4. The Jacks will wear special black jerseys when they take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters for their final meeting of the regular season in a potential championship preview. "Shirt Off Our Back" Night is presented by K-K Mobbs Construction, Ave Can Properties and Marco Inspection Services.

Fans will be able to win the one-of-a-kind memorabilia two different ways. Every fan in attendance can enter a drawing to win a jersey. The uniform tops from many of the remaining players and coaches will be available in a silent auction running throughout the game.

At the conclusion of the game, the winners will join the team on the field to collect their prize directly from the player or coach. Players will also be available to sign the game-worn jerseys and pose for photographs with the winners.

Select jerseys will be available through a running silent auction for several days after the game, so even fans who are unable to attend Thursday's game have a chance to win.

All proceeds of the silent auction will benefit the Full Count Foundation. The Full Count Foundation is a charitable organization that encourages children to get involved with their communities through sports as well as other activities. The funds will be used to provide tickets to area youngsters.

Thursday will also be Thirsty Thursday, so fans can also beat the East Texas heat with $1 draft beers, $3 frozen margaritas and 50-cent soft drinks.

The Pump Jacks last held a "Shirt Off Our Back" Night in 2009, when the team had seven players drafted by major league teams. Seven of the jerseys given away at the promotion were worn by players who have since gone on to start their careers in professional baseball. Among the players were Brett Nicholas, the Texas Rangers' sixth-round pick in 2010; David Rollins, the top left-hander in the TCL in 2009 who recently was promoted by the Toronto Blue Jays; and Matt Juengel, one of the top hitters at Texas A&M and the 2009 TCL Freshman of the Year.

Among the Pump Jacks who will be in uniform for Thursday's "Shirt Off Our Back" Night are 11 players who were selected to participate in the 2011 TCL All-Star Game. Three Pump Jacks players have ties to former major leaguers: Jordan Hershiser, whose father Orel is a former NL Cy Young Award and World Series winner; Matt Munson, cousin of former All-American and top-three draft pick Eric Munson; and Jaron Long, the son of New York Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long.

The Jacks, who Saturday set a new TCL record for wins in a season, head to Lafayette Monday for a two-game series against the Cane Cutters. The Pump Jacks return to East Texas Wednesday and Thursday against the same Cane Cutters. The series will open with Winning Inning Wednesday presented by Jack in the Box. If the Jacks score three or more runs in any inning, fans will receive a coupon for a free value menu item at Jack in the Box.
