East Texas PumpJacks News Release
On the heels of announcing the team's arrival in Tyler, the East Texas Pump Jacks released their 2015 season schedule.
The first-ever Pump Jacks home game in Tyler will take place Thursday, June 4, when the Acadiana Cane Cutters come to town.
The Jacks' inaugural season in Tyler will kick off one week earlier, when they visit Dallas to take on the Texas Marshals on May 28 to begin a six-game road trip.
"We are so excited to share Pump Jacks baseball with the Tyler-area community," said general manager Mike Lieberman. "This date has been circled on our calendar for a long time."
The opening homestand will feature a pair of games against the Cane Cutters on Thursday and Friday, June 4 and 5, followed by a weekend set versus the two-time defending champion Brazos Valley Bombers. The Pump Jacks, who have reached the postseason for seven-straight years, are looking forward to opening the season with a bang.
"The Bombers were national champions in 2013, and the Cane Cutters were a playoff team last year," noted Lieberman. "Fans will have a chance to experience the great baseball the Texas Collegiate League has to offer right away. Of course, fans will get to enjoy the fun of a night with the Pump Jacks all summer long!"
All 30 Pump Jacks home games will be played on the campus of The University of Texas at Tyler at Irwin UT Tyler Ballpark.
The TCL season schedule will be 60 games, split evenly into two halves. The first half will come to a close on July 1; won-loss records will then reset to 0-0 the next day to begin the second half. The teams that finish in first and second place in each half will advance to the playoffs.
The Pump Jacks have fared well in the split-season format, winning four division titles and advancing to the playoffs every year they've played.
The 2015 TCL All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 7, one week before its major league counterpart. The game will be played at Riverside Stadium, home of the Victoria Generals.
With six teams in the TCL again this season, the schedule retains the same basic format as it has the last two years. Every week, the Pump Jacks will play three, two-game series, with Monday serving as a league-wide off-day. The Jacks will also play one scheduled doubleheader this summer, on June 17, in Dallas versus the Marshals.
The regular season will conclude on August 7, followed by the TCL playoffs. The complete schedule can be found below or by clicking here .
