Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (20-16) had their nine game win streak snapped by the Columbus Catfish (15-20) Friday night with a 5-3 loss. Daryl Maday suffered the loss in his first start of the season while Thomas Neal drove in two runs in the losing cause.

Columbus broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning with an RBI single from Henry Wrigley scoring Mike McCormick from second base.

The Catfish added an insurance run in the sixth inning off of reliever Waldis Joaquin on an RBI sac-fly to right from Greg Sexton for a 4-2 lead.

Maday (2-2) worked 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. The right-hander did not walk a batter and struck out five matching a season high.

Augusta got a run back in the sixth inning on an RBI ground out from Thomas Neal to pull within 4-3, but that was all the GreenJackets would get.

Columbus took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on RBI base hits from Omar Luna and Shawn O'Malley.

The GreenJackets tied it at 2-2 in the bottom of the third on an RBI ground out from Nick Noonan and an RBI sac-fly to left from Neal.

The GreenJackets and Catfish finish their series Saturday night with Augusta sending left-hander Steven Calicutt (2-1, 2.57) to the mound. Columbus counters with lefty Brian Flores (1-1, 3.42). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Game Notes:

Thomas Neal finished 0-for-3 but drove in two runs to lead the offense.

Charlie Culberson and Nick Noonan each finished with a pair of hits.

Noonan had a triple in the sixth inning, Augusta's 15th of the season.
