Islanders Tryouts Coming Up This Weekend

The Harrisburg City Islanders will hold their second round of open tryouts this Saturday, March 6, and Sunday, March 7, at Severance Field at Harrisburg High School.

Head Coach Bill Becher and his newly named coaching staff (Assistant Coaches Mark Pulisic and Steve Widdowson and Director of Scouting Mike Corney) will be on hand when the tryouts kick off on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

The first set of drills will run from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., with a second set from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. There will be only one session (9:00 – 11:00 a.m.) on Sunday.

Participants from a wide array of locations, including Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Bermuda, and Canada, will join numerous trialists with local ties.

The Islanders enter the weekend with four players (midfielders Mike Feniger, Mike Henning, and Derek Potteiger, and forward David Bascome) under contract for 2004.

The Harrisburg City Islanders will open their inaugural season in the Pro Soccer League (PSL), a division of the United Soccer Leagues (USL), on Saturday, April 17, with a road game against Northern Virginia. The Islanders will also travel to Charlotte on Friday, April 30, and Wilmington on Saturday, May 1, before playing their first home game at the Skyline Sports Complex against the cross-state rival Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday, May 8.
