Penn FC News Release

Harrisburg, PA - City Islanders FC will look to ride the momentum of a first home win into their first match of the season against the Rochester Rhinos this Saturday, April 30 at 7 p.m. in Rochester.

The Isles have not had much quality against Rochester in the past two seasons. They are winless in the last four games with two draws and two loses. Last season, Rochester put a 4-0 beating on the Islanders at Skyline Sports Complex.

In 2015 Rochester only suffered one loss the entire season and came out of the USL playoffs as the league champions. This season they are off to a slower start and currently sit in the middle of the Eastern Conference table. Christian Volesky is leading the team in points to back up his productive 2015 season where he scored eight goals and recorded three assists.

This will be the fourth road game of the season for the Islanders, who are 1-2-0 on the road this season. Recently players like rookie Paul Wilson, Jose Barril and Cardel Benbow have shown they are starting to get into quality playing form.

Wilson got the assist in the game winning goal against Orlando when he swung a free kick towards net that met the head of Shane Johnson to put the Isles up for good in the game. Barril started of the scoring against the Lions with a hard shot that ricocheted off an opponent into the net.

Rochester took down FC Montreal 2-1 in their last time on the pitch. The Rhinos fell behind for the first time at home in a year when Montreal took a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute, but it was short lived as Rochester's Christian Volesky shot a one-timer past the Montreal goalie. Volesky, currently Rochester's leading scorer got his second and game winning goal just minutes later.

City will be back home following the trip to New York on Saturday, May 7 at 7 p.m. to take on FC Cincinnati for the first time in their history and again on May 9 at 7 p.m. against Charleston. Cincinnati is one of six new teams that joined the USL this year. Reserve your seat today!
