Islanders in Search of Third CFU Title in a Row

BayamÃ"n, Puerto Rico (June 5th 2012) -The Puerto Rico Islanders confirmed its participation in the Final Round of CFU action. The Islanders look for their third consecutive Caribbean Clubs' Championship. The Final Round will take place between June 18th and June 22nd in Trinidad and Tobago, with three of the four teams advancing to CONCACAF Champions league.

"We finally have been given the dates for the CFU finals, which are being held in Trinidad and Tobago, where we will be looking forward to defending our title. We still have two very important NASL games, but its going to be a great month for the players to look forward to," said Head Coach Adrian Whitbread.

The first matches will take place on Tuesday, June 19th with Caledonia A1A squaring off the Antigua Barracudas at 6:00 p.m. The defending Champions, the Puerto Rico Islanders, will play W. Connection at 8:00 p.m.

The final match day, on June 21st, will have the loser of Match 1 and Match 2 fighting for the third spot into the CONCACAF Champions League at 6:00 p.m. The final will be played at 8:00 p.m with the winners of the two matches squaring off for the CFU Championship. All games will be played at Manny Ramjohn Stadium.

CONCACAF held its Champions League Draw today and revealed the possible groups for the Puerto Rico Islanders:

Xelajú MC (GUA)

Chivas Guadalajara (MEX)

CFU 2nd Place

Group 5

LA Galaxy (USA)

Isidro Metapán (SLV)
