Harrisburg, PA - On Friday April 24 the Harrisburg City Islanders will go on the road to play against the Charlotte Independence, formerly Charlotte Eagles, at Transamerica Field at 7:30 p.m. The Islanders will be trying to get their first win on the road this season.

Harrisburg picked up their first points of the season in a 2-1 win against USL-PRO newcomer FC Montreal last Saturday on City Island. This comes after a bit of a rocky start to the 2015 season for the Islanders who dropped their first two games on the road.

Charlotte is winless in their first three games and failed to score in their last meeting in a 3-0 loss to the Richmond Kickers. They have only earned one point on the season and that was a 1-1 draw with the Wilmington Hammerheads.

The Isles and Charlotte met twice last year. The first meeting was 1-1 draw on City Island and the second was a 4-2 win in Charlotte. Jimmy McLaughlin is the only player remaining player who scored in those games.

Philadephia Union loanees like Jimmy McLaughlin, Antoine Hoppenot and Zach Pfeffer have given the Isles a real boost so far this season. They have scored three of the Islanders four total goals this season and McLaughlin leads the team with three points (1G, 1A).

Islanders Head Coach, Bill Becher is hopeful the team has the momentum, following their home opener win, to perform against the Independence this weekend. "The good thing about our team is that we improve every game," said Becher. "In past seasons we have always been successful on the road and we are looking forward to getting back on track in Charlotte this Friday."

After the match in Charlotte the Islanders will be on the road again when they take on the Wilmington Hammerheads on Saturday May 2nd at 7 p.m. For more information about the Harrisburg City Islanders please contact (717)-441-GOAL (4625) or visit cityislanders.com
