Ironmen To Support Newark Gets Healthy Dance Event

Newark, N.J. (Wednesday, September 3, 2008) - In support of the New Jersey Organ and Tissue Sharing Network, the New Jersey Ironmen will head to Military Park next Tuesday for the Newark Gets Healthy Dance Event. The event, scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. start-up time, will also feature Newark Mayor Cory A. Booker and 98.7 KISS FM deejay Ruben Toro.

"We will remain steadfast in our commitment to the City of Newark," Ironmen General Manager Tony Novo stated. "The New Jersey Sharing Network is a great organization with an even greater cause, and we are pleased to support them in this creative event."

The Newark Gets Healthy Dance Event will showcase a group dance exercise, offer free health screenings and will additionally have food provided by Subway. On hand from the Ironmen will be members of the Ironmen staff and dance team, as well as forward Nebo Stamenkovic. Attendees that show proof of organ donor designation on their driver's license or identification card will additionally receive tickets to the 2008 Liberty R&B and Jazz Festival, presented by 98.7 KISS-FM and the Star-Ledger/NJ.com. The two-day festival is scheduled for September 13-14 at Liberty State Park.

The New Jersey Sharing Network is a non-profit, federally-certified, state-approved organ procurement organization responsible for the recovery of organs and tissue for the 4,300 New Jersey residents currently awaiting transplantation. It is part of the national recovery system, which is in place for the nearly 100,000 people on waiting lists. The New Jersey Sharing Network is dedicated to educating the public about the benefits of donation and transplantation while supporting both donor families and transplant recipients.

The New Jersey Ironmen Dance Team is holding auditions for their 2008-09 squad on Monday, September 8, at Prudential Center. Those selected from the tryouts will perform at every Ironmen home game as well as representing the dance team at numerous promotional appearances throughout the forthcoming year.
