Ironmen to Ring Closing Bell at Nasdaq Thursday

NEWARK, NJ (Wednesday, April 2, 2008) - The New Jersey Ironmen formally announce today that former Italian National Team players Gigi Di Biagio and Angelo Peruzzi will join Ironmen Head Coach Omid Namazi and the New Jersey players to preside over the NASDAQ Closing Bell this Thursday, April 3. The ringing of the Closing Bell will take place at 4:00 p.m. at NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square.

The ringing of the Closing Bell will serve as the official beginning to a weekend that will conclude with an Italian All-Star Exhibition at Prudential Center. The friendly contest will be played on Friday, April 4, following the Ironmen regular season finale against the Baltimore Blast. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorship will benefit youth charities in the tri-state area.

Fair Gama is a non-profit organization dedicated to fair play and sportsmanship. Fair Gama uses world class athletes in various sports to promote important social values and issues, especially those that impact children.

Immediately following the conclusion of the Ironmen match against Baltimore, a special "Lights Out Phos-Soccer" demonstration will be conducted (Phos is Greek for torch). This will be the first known glow-in-the-dark soccer game.

Di Biagio is a midfielder who has enjoyed a 20-year professional career, most recently with Italian club, Ascoli. He also earned 31 caps with the Italian National Team and netted a pair of goals on the international stage. He was a member of two World Cup teams in 1998 and 2002.

Peruzzi is a former Italian National Team goalkeeper that was a member of the 2006 World Cup championship squad. He made 509 appearances in net over his 21-year career, recording 31 caps with the national team. While backstopping Italian club Juventus in the 1990s, he was a winner of the 1996 Champions League title and three Scudetti. Scudetto is an Italian word meaning small shield, and Scudetti are symbols worn on the jersey of the team that has won the Serie A title from the previous season.

Also scheduled to appear for the All-Star Exhibition include former U.S. National Team midfielder Tab Ramos, former Venezuelan National Team forward Giovanni Savarese, former U.S. National Team defender Jeff Agoos, former Uruguay National Team midfielder Marcelo Fracchia, former Venezuelan National Team midfielder Luis Mendoza, celebrity/activist Ethan Zohn, IBF Junior Welterweight Champion Paulie Malignaggi, 1995 FIFA Player of the Year George Weah, MISL 1980s All-Decade Team selection Mike Stankovic, actor Andrew Shue, former All-MISL goalkeeper Chris Vaccaro, former MetroStar and Rutgers graduate Rob Johnson, former All-MISL defender Glenn Carbonara and former MetroStars midfielder Chris DaSilva.

Anyone purchasing tickets to the Ironmen game are invited to stay for the "Phos-Soccer" and Italian All-Star exhibitions. The Ironmen remain in Newark to close out the regular season, hosting the Baltimore Blast (18-10) this Friday at Prudential Center. Kickoff is slated for 8:00 p.m. If New Jersey is able to defeat Baltimore, they solidify their spot in the postseason. The KiXX play Thursday in Monterrey, and they must win to keep themselves in playoff contention. A Philadelphia loss would automatically send the Ironmen into the postseason. ABOUT THE MISL

The Major Indoor Soccer League, a single-entity organization with a coast-to-coast presence, represents the major league of professional indoor soccer, featuring the finest indoor soccer players from 32 countries around the world.
