Ironmen To Host Defending Champions Friday Night

December 12, 2007 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
New Jersey Ironmen News Release

NEWARK, NJ- The New Jersey Ironmen (5-2) look to revert back to their winning ways this Friday when the defending Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) champion Philadelphia KiXX (2-7) come to town for a prime time match up at 8:00 p.m. This will be the first-ever meeting of the friendly rivalry between the two clubs, and it will take center stage at Prudential Center in downtown Newark.

"The KiXX have a proud organization that is coming off a championship season," Ironmen Head Coach and Vice President of Soccer Operations Omid Namazi stated. "On any given night, they are capable of defeating any team in this league. We will have to come out ready to play, and we must stick to our game plan."

The 2006-07 title marked the second championship that the KiXX brought to the City of Brotherly Love. Under the tutelage of Namazi in 2001-02, they won their first MISL crown. Also playing on that title-winning club were current Ironmen assistant coaches Kevin Sloan and Stuart Dobson.

While Philadelphia may not have started this season as well as they would have hoped, the entire Ironmen roster knows that they will face a very capable team when the whistle blows this Friday.

"A team like the KiXX is the type of team you have to worry about the most," Ironmen defender Donny Gray said. "It's too early in the season to know anything by looking at records. They are capable of getting hot and coming into our home and beating us."

New Jersey had a four-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Milwaukee Wave at Prudential Center this past Sunday. Gray commented on regrouping from the loss.

"Things have run smoothly this week at practice, and we're a group that knows how to bounce back," he remarked. "We will be focused for Friday."

In addition to the previously stated coaches, the Ironmen have another four players that were on the Philadelphia roster in previous seasons including team goal leader Dan Antoniuk, MISL assist leader Goran Vasic, forward Gary Brooks and defender Jason Hotchkin.

The Ironmen are currently offering a "We Win, You Win" Holiday Pack. Included in this ticket package, fans will receive discounted tickets to two games, free parking and an Ironmen soccer ball (while supplies last). The entire package starts at $35, and it is available now by calling the New Jersey Ironmen ticket line at 1-800-IRONMEN. Call us today to catch the Xtreme Xcitement of Ironmen indoor soccer!
