Ironmen Sign MF Osni Neto, D/MF Mateus Dos Anjos

NEWARK, NJ (September 19, 2007)- The New Jersey Ironmen of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) formally announced today that they have agreed to terms with midfielder Osni Neto and defender/ midfielder Mateus dos Anjos. Both players are set to join the club when they begin play this fall at Prudential Center in the Downtown Core Redevelopment District of Newark.

Osni Neto, who was acquired by the Ironmen via the 2007 MISL Expansion Draft, has spent the past season playing for the Serbian White Eagles of the Canadian Soccer League (CSL). Prior to playing for the White Eagles, the Sao Paulo, Brazil, native played for the Toronto Lynx of the United Soccer League 1st Division (USL-1). He tallied the first Lynx goal in 2006 against the Portland Timbers, and he inevitably recorded five goals on the season. The 5-9 forward has also spent time with Brazilian clubs Inter de Limeira, Vasco de Gama and SE Palmeiras where he was a member of the 1998 Brazil Cup championship team. Neto trialed with New York/ New Jersey MetroStars (now known as Red Bull New York) of Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2005, and he is a former member of the Brazil U-20 squad.

"Neto is an extremely skillful midfielder who can create goal scoring opportunities," Ironmen Vice President of Soccer Operations and Head Coach Omid Namazi commented. "He possesses a strong left foot, and he is a very intelligent player."

Mateus dos Anjos comes to the Ironmen with experience as a defender and midfielder. The 24-year-old Brazilian attended college at Southern Connecticut State University where he tallied five goals and five assists during his senior season. In 2006 he played for FC Olimpia Balti in Moldova, and he spent 2007 playing for Crystal Palace Baltimore of the USL-2 before finishing the season with Miami FC of the USL-1.

"Mateus is a versatile player that gives us flexibility in what we can do and how we approach each game," Namazi stated. "He is another athletic player that can not only defend, but he can also advance forward and get involved in the attack."
