New Jersey Ironmen News Release

Newark, N.J. (Tuesday, July 15, 2008) - In recognition for his commitment to philanthropic causes, Ironmen goalkeeper Tony Meola has been chosen by the Newark Renaissance House (NRH) Foundation as the recipient of their annual "I Care" Award. The three-time World Cup goalkeeper will be presented with the honor when the NRH hosts their 14th Annual "I Care" Benefit at Prudential Center on Wednesday, September 10th.

"The Newark Renaissance House does a fantastic job within the community, and I am honored to receive the 'I Care' Award," Meola stated. "My hope is that I can help create more awareness for this year's benefit so much-needed funds can be raised for this great organization."

The doors of NRH first opened in 1975 as a drug-free residential community for the treatment of substance abusing adults. The NRH is a tax exempt, fully licensed, not-for-profit agency funded by the New Jersey Department of Human Services. They operate residential, outpatient and infant mental health programs that address the needs of those that have suffered from alcohol and substance abuse. Their mission is to assist those in need as they regain sobriety by showing them how to develop and live a healthy lifestyle.

"Tony Meola is not just a prominent figure within the area, he is one of ours," NRH Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Pat DiFlumeri commented about the upcoming NRH honoree. "His charitable work extends into the inner-city, and he truly cares about the community. He is always willing to give back, and we are very pleased to have him involved with our benefit this year."

The 14th Annual NRH "I Care" Benefit will begin with a fundraising dinner at Prudential Center and will be followed by the Celine Dion concert in the main arena. For tickets and further information regarding the event, contact NRH Development Coordinator Dwayne Sampson via phone at 973-854-8317 or email at dwayne.sampson@nrh.org.

The New Jersey Ironmen are currently underway in their inaugural summer camp programming. Camps are conducted by the Ironmen coaching staff and players, offering participants the rare experience of learning directly from the pros. All players also receive a t-shirt, soccer ball and a ticket to the 2008-09 New Jersey Ironmen home opener at Prudential Center this fall.
