Milwaukee Mustangs News Release
MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Milwaukee's rally for its first home win of the season came up short Friday night as the Iron fell 50-34 to the Peoria Pirates at the Bradley Center.
It was all Peoria in the first quarter as QB Luke Drone threw two touchdown passes to give the visiting Pirates a 13-0 lead. Drone threw an 11-yard TD to WR Moses Harris for Peoria's first score of the game before connecting with WB Brian Allbrooks on a 13-yard pass with 56 seconds left in the opening stanza.
A one-yard toss from Milwaukee lone QB Shane Adler to FB/LB Kellen Driscoll put the Iron on the scoreboard for the first time, cutting Peoria's lead to six.
Peoria responded with a touchdown of its own as Allbrooks got his second TD of the game on a 34-yard pass from QB Kent Smith for a 19-7 Peoria lead.
Two plays after an Adler interception, Peoria found themselves in the Iron end zone again, pushing its lead to 26-7 after WR Dante Ridgeway caught a 35-yard pass from Smith.
Antoine Burns ran from one end zone to the next, and returned a 50-yard kickoff to keep the Iron in the game at 26-14 going into the half.
Both teams traded touchdowns to start the second half, with the Pirates finding themselves in Milwaukee territory within the first five minutes and Iron lineman Tyre Young responding with his fourth touchdown of the season to put Milwaukee within eight, 29-21.
Another touchdown by Peoria with 1:23 on the clock didn't shake Milwaukee's tenacity as WR Scott Burnoski put the Iron within striking distance on a two-yard score to end the third down by only nine, 36-27.
Peoria scored two quick touchdowns to pull up 50-27 with six minutes to go in the game. Milwaukee stole seven points back off a touchdown by WR CoCo Blalock, making the score 50-34.
The Peoria defense proved too much for the Iron in the remaining minutes of the game as the Pirates rolled to their first win of the season. The Iron travel to Lexington on Saturday, May 25. The game is carried live on Time Warner Sports 32.
American Idol Star Jamar Rogers has confirmed he is singing the National Anthem before the Milwaukee Iron arena football game against the Green Bay Blizzard on Friday, May 1 at the Bradley Center.
Jamar will perform a sound check at the Bradley Center at 5:30 and sign autographs on the main concourse at the Bradley Center from 6:00 to 6:30. Iron fans attending the game who present their ticket stub from the Iron game this Friday night against Peoria will receive priority placement in the autograph line.
Tickets for Iron home games begin at just $11 and are available at mkeiron.com, Ticketmaster and the Bradley Center box office
