Milwaukee Mustangs News Release
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Iron added size and strength to the wide receiver position today when Arena Football One announced that the team has been assigned WR/LB Rodney Burgess.
"Rodney Burgess is a big, athletic player who was listed as a tight end in college and then a tight end or H-back in the NFL with the New York Giants. He is a pass-catching tight end whose style of play is very much like the Green Bay Packers' Jermichael Finley. For us, Rodney will be used as a wide receiver. Our coaching staff and I believe that his size and skill-level combination will present several match up advantages for us in our passing game. I am excited to see him play Arena Football," stated Iron general manager Jason Clark.

Rodney Burgess played college football at Coastal Carolina University. He was a four-year letter winner for the Chanticleers and helped CCU to three consecutive Big South Conference titles and the program's first-ever berth in the NCAA Division I Playoffs. He currently ranks on CCU's career top-10 list in receptions, receiving yards, touchdowns and yards per catch.
Professionally, Burgess was originally pursued as a free agent by the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Washington Redskins of the NFL. He signed with the Lions in May of 2007. He was released by Detroit and signed with the New York Giants just nine days later. Burgess battled a shoulder injury while with the Giants which limited his action to three pre-season games.
