BROSSARD ‚¬" On the final day of the invitational tryout camp held by the Montreal Impact, the invited players shut out the University of Montreal 2-0, Friday afternoon, in front of more than 200 people at the Bell Sports Complex, in Brossard.

Idriss Chergui (JS Kabylie), on a pass from Denis Stinat (Stade brestois 29), opened the scoring in the 13th minute, while Igor Djoman (EA Guingamp) doubled the invited players ‚¬â„¢ lead in the 26th minute. The invited goalkeepers Stephen Paterson and Matt Pyzdrwoski shared a light workload for the clean sheet.

‚¬Å“We saw a lot of quality on the field at this camp over the last five days, ‚¬Â said Impact technical director Nick De Santis. ‚¬Å“We ‚¬â„¢ll carefully analyze everything we saw before making any decisions about what we need for the club. Certain positions are higher up on our priority list. We ‚¬â„¢d like to invite some of these players to our official training camp and it ‚¬â„¢s also possible that other players who weren ‚¬â„¢t at the invitational tryout this week will participate. ‚¬Â

‚¬Å“The invited players demonstrated exemplary attitudes this week, training and playing with a lot of intensity, even if they had nothing to prove, ‚¬Â declared Impact head coach Marc Dos Santos. ‚¬Å“It was an excellent week. ‚¬Â

The players currently under contract with the Impact will undergo a series of medical tests and physicals next week. Training camp gets underway on February 7, in Brossard, in preparation for the club ‚¬â„¢s final season in North America ‚¬â„¢s second division. The Impact will join Major League Soccer in 2012.

The Impact will kick off its 18th season in team history on April 9 in Tampa Bay and will play its home opener at Saputo Stadium on Saturday, April 23, once again versus Tampa Bay FC.

For 2011 season tickets, a waiting list is available at montrealimpact.com or by contacting the box office at 514-328-3668. All season ticket holders will automatically have first right of refusal on their seats for Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2012.
