International Basketball League Will Offer 2nd Winter Season

Published on March 25, 2011 under International Basketball League (IBL) News Release

Minor league basketball team owners appreciate that the International Basketball League limits the # of airplane trips to 1 flight per season. Team owners -in fact- appreciate the '1 flight guarantee' enough to where various teams have repeatedly asked the IBL to start a Winter season/division. The IBL is very devoted to its Spring/Summer session, a season that produces incredibly high talent (mainly due to playing in late April, May, June and early July) but IBL Commissioner Mikal Duilio obliged last Winter, "we ran our first Winter season last year and it went well, nine teams played various games with four of those teams playing a full season and then competing in a 4-team end of season tournament".

The Spring/Summer season is still the IBL trademark season due to very high level of play (overseas and NBA or NBDL type players appreciate the timing of the season- in May, June and early July), but the IBL will indeed run a 2nd Winter season starting November 2011 (Winter season ends mid January of 2012). IBL Commissioner "some markets respond better in the Winter and for those few markets that need to play in the Winter, the IBL is willing to provide our high quality systems and approach to scheduling that limits team owners to 1 flight per season.

For minor league basketball team owners interested in participating in the International Basketball League Winter season 2011/2012, a conference with training will be held in Portland, Oregon on April 29th and 30th, 2011. If interested in playing in the Winter season, contact the IBL at 503-380-4539 (interested parties must either have- multiple years experience in team ownership- or an impressive few years worth of tax returns- otherwise this industry is too tough- serious inquiries only please).
