INF Giansanti activated from DL; INF Soto placed on DL

KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce this morning that INF Anthony Giansanti has been activated from the disabled list. In a corresponding roster move, INF Elliot Soto has been placed on the DL, retroactive to Wednesday, April 10. Giansanti will be available for today's 11:30 a.m. game at Smokies Park.

The Smokies active roster remains at 25, which is the Southern League maximum.

Giansanti, 24, was placed on the DL on Thursday, April 4 and will be making his Double-A debut. In 2012, he hit a combined .264 (34-for-129) in 36 games with three different teams (Peoria, AZL Cubs, Daytona) within the Cubs organization. The New London, Conn. native signed with the Cubs as a non-drafted free agent in 2010.

Soto, 22, is batting .111 (1-for-9) with three walks and one stolen base in five games for the Smokies this season. The Illinois native was drafted by the Cubs in the 15th round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
