INDIANAPOLIS (Friday, July 31, 2015) - Indy Eleven Professional Soccer announced midfielder Dylan Mares will miss 4-6 weeks of action after undergoing surgery earlier today to repair a tear in the meniscus in his right knee. The successful procedure was performed by Community Health Network Sports Medicine orthopedic surgeon Greg Estes, MD.
The 25-year-old Mares is coming off a week where he scored Indy Eleven's lone goal in last Saturday's 1-1 draw with New York. That tally was voted the NASL's Play of the Week honor and helped land the Zionsville High School graduate a spot on the league's Team of the Week for the second time in 2015.
The South Bend native and University of Louisville and Indiana University product currently leads the "Boys in Blue" with three goals and four assists in 2015, the latter placing him tied for third across the North American Soccer League and just one behind the league lead in the category. Mares is one of just four Indy Eleven players to appear in all 14 regular season games to this point of the 2015 season and places second on the squad with 13 starts and 1,168 minutes played.
Indy Eleven will resume NASL Fall Season play tomorrow night, when the "Boys in Blue" will welcome the Atlanta Silverbacks to IUPUI's Carroll Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff. Tickets for Saturday's "Kix n' Flix Night' - featuring a post-game screening of the comedy classic Spaceballs - remain available and can be purchased at http://indyxi.co/Aug1KixnFlix or by phone at 317-685-1100 (Mon.-Fri., 9:00 am-5:00 pm).
