IFL Indoor Football League

Indoor Football This Week

So let's all get together, join hands and sing the big kumbaya about how the AFL taking a year off will make the indoor leagues better on the field.

All those poor AFL players are so desperate for work they'll be looking for any chance to play. And all the indoor leagues are going to be so much better and can claim more credibility by having a few of them of the roster.

Please... Let's keep in mind that no matter how much on-field talent a team possesses, it's only as credible as the "guru's" that own the thing.

Sure, the Chicago Slaughter looked great, smashing Milwaukee by 60 with all those former Rush players contributing.

Or maybe it was just that the Bonecrushers are horrible? Especially with their equipment not showing up on time.

Yes, there'll be a small rise in the quality of play across the board. Especially those teams who were close to AFL teams or major markets. In the big picture, this is little more than some Division II teams picking up a few I-AA or FCS players. It's still Division II football.

Warrick Dunn playing for Bloomington has my attention, but let's see how long that lasts.

For now, the UIF championship rematch between the Extreme and Sioux Falls will make for an interesting IFL opening weekend. AIFA and CIFL enter week two, and the SIFL is still a month away.

Week One Thoughts:

There were three games last weekend. Two didn't start on time. One didn't have information on its league or team web sites until Monday evening. The other didn't have a stat reports until Monday morning

A defending league champion still doesn't have anything on its site or even a simple stat report.

Isn't it great to see the sport progressing?

Oh, this week's list is still being carefully thought out. It's the ten most infamous people in indoor football history and I'm flipping coins for the top spot. Be patient.
