Indoor Football League To Hold First-Ever League Meetings

September 11, 2008 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release

Omaha, NE - The teams of the newly-formed Indoor Football League (IFL) will come together this week in Omaha, Nebraska to finalize details for the league's inaugural 2009 campaign.

The meetings, which are closed to the public, will be held Thursday-Saturday at the DoubleTree Hotel and Executive Meeting Center in downtown Omaha. Representatives from the eight existing teams from United Indoor Football (UIF) and the nine from Intense Football League as well as officials from both leagues will be attendance.

Prior to the meetings, the teams have agreed on the rules and regulations and the new operations manual for the league.

The main topic for the meetings will be league growth and expansion for the 2009 season. In addition to the 17 quality teams from the UIF and Intense Football League that are already in place, there has been an enthusiastic response from teams looking to join the IFL. These teams come from other smaller regional leagues and also include several new expansion markets that make sense geographically as the IFL continues to establish their national footprint.

Paul Aaron, UIF Executive Director, said there are concrete reasons why teams are interested in joining the IFL.

"Our reputation for performance and quality has been cited by most of these teams as their reason for considering the IFL," Aaron said. "We have been able to explain that each team in the IFL owns the league, has equity in the league and determines how it is operated."
