June 9, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Week Fifteen Vidswap.com Players of the Week. As time dwindles down on the remainder of the regular season, players post season plans pick up the in-game action. Each week the IFL selects three players, one from each phase of the game, offense, defense, and specials teams, whose play on the field stood out among the rest of the competition. Eleven games were featured in Week Fifteen, and the following players' exemplary performances earned them the honors of Vidswap.com Players of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week: QB Perry Patterson, Rochester Raiders
One of the biggest stages of the year was set when the Rochester Raiders hosted the Chicago Slaughter in the first ever indoor rules football game contested at an outdoor venue. The night would provide another great sports moment witnessed by New York football fans. The Raiders were able to defeat the Slaughter by a 43-36 final. Leading his team and securing a late victory was Raiders QB Perry Patterson. Patterson would complete 22 of his 36 attempts. His stand-out efforts were good for 268 yards and four touchdowns. His performance has helped the Raiders all season as they have locked a spot in the IFL post season. The Raiders will look to Patterson to keep up the great numbers as they head to Richmond in Week Sixteen to try and beat the Atlantic East champion Revolution for the second time this season.
Defensive Player of the Week: DL Ameer Ismail, Tri-Cities Fever
The Tri-Cities Fever found themselves in a tough spot against the Kent Predators. Both Pacific North teams are battling to make the playoffs. The Fever however would have the advantage of a phenomenal effort from DL Ameer Ismail. Ismail was a force to be reckoned with all game. His impressive stats included 11.5 tackles, four of which were for a loss. He also was responsible for breaking up a pass and bringing down an interception. Ismail to his credit also had a sack on the day. The Fever hope that Ismail and his defensive onslaught continue in Week Sixteen as they host the Alaska Wild travel team.
Special Teams Player of the Week: KR Troy Brookins, Colorado Ice
The Colorado Ice were shooting for their third straight at home in Week Fifteen. While they did fall short in a 73-44 loss to Sioux Falls, Troy Brookins certainly did his part in keeping the Ice alive in the exciting match-up. Brookins provided Sioux Falls with a storm of his own. He had four returns that equaled 115 yards, one of which was for a touchdown. Brookins was also not limited to the offensive side of the ball. On defense he continued to provide play after play for the Ice. The impact player notched four tackles while playing on the defensive side of the ball. Colorado will now be on the road looking to rebound when they take on the Omaha Beef in Week Sixteen.
