SEATTLE, WA-West Coast Sports (WCS) received approval from the Indoor Football League (IFL) board of directors at the league meeting in Omaha over the weekend for two expansion franchises for the Seattle area, pending league approval of leases with Comcast Arena at Everett and the Kent Events Center.

The IFL is the result of a merger between United Indoor Football (UIF) and the Intense Football League (IFL) on August 1, 2008. Twenty-five franchises have been approved as of Friday, September 12th for play in the 2009 season, which kicks off next March.

WCS Chairman and CEO, Michael Tuckman, said, "We're thrilled to be a part of the IFL. The league's business model is very compelling, and we have high expectations for success in the Seattle area with franchises in Everett and Kent, just 50 miles apart. The league confirmed by its unanimous approval of our franchises that we're a tentpole for its Pacific Northwest expansion strategy."

WCS, which owns two franchises in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA), the Seattle Explorers and Vancouver Dragons, has key management in place that includes former NBA executive and CBA Commissioner Gary Hunter as Executive Vice President, NBA legend and Hall of Famer, Rick Barry, as Senior Vice President and President of Basketball Operations, and Mark Flowers, former American Golf executive, as Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
