MONTREAL – More than 100 young players took part in the inaugural day of tryouts for the new sport-études program, Saturday, at the Centre d'activités physiques et communautaires de l'Est, in Montreal.

"This first day was extraordinary," said Impact director of player development Philippe Eullaffroy, after the three sessions. "There was a lot of quality on the field this morning, notably amongst the 11-year-old players. It's exciting to live the beginning of this adventure, knowing that some of these players will contribute to Montreal's success in MLS. It's very motivating because we are living historic moments."

Players were notably evaluated by Nick De Santis, Philippe Eullaffroy, Marc Dos Santos, Youssef Dahha and Olivier Brett.

All players that will be selected to this unique program in North America for the 2011 return to school, will play for the U14, U15 and U16 Impact Academy teams in Quebec's Elite Soccer League, starting in the summer of 2012.

It is still possible to register for the next tryout sessions (November 28, December 27, 28 and 29) at a cost of $40 by visiting edsimpactmontreal.com.
