LAUDERDALE LAKES, Florida - The Montreal Impact registered a 4-1 win (halftime 0-0) against a Haitian selection, Wednesday, at Westminster Academy field in Lauderdale Lakes, near Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
"It was a good game for us tonight, in conditions that were not the best (the field)," said Impact head coach John Limniatis. "We played well during the whole game and we scored a few goals in the second half. It was not a very high-level team but the players approached the game seriously."
Forward Massimo Di Ioia (48th minute), midfielder Pierre-Rudolph Mayard (53rd), midfielder Tony Donatelli (62nd) and defender Stephen deRoux (83rd) scored the four Impact goals in the second half. Di Ioia, who is currently trying out with the team, also added an assist on the second goal. The Impact dominated 19-4 in terms of shots on goal.
Midfielder Bruce Lee scored the lone goal for the Haitian selection in the 67th minute.
Goalkeeper Srdjan Djekanovic played the first half, while goalkeeper Andrei Badescu, who is also trying out with the Impact, played the second half.
With this win, the Impact now have a record of 8-2-2 in 12 preseason games since the beginning of training camp.
The Impact will play its third and final exhibition game in Florida, Sunday at 5 pm, against its USL First Division rivals, Miami FC.
The Impact will kick off its regular season April 18, in Charleston. The Impact will play its home opener Saturday, May 9, as they play host to the Rochester Rhinos at Saputo Stadium. Season tickets are currently available by calling 514-328-3668.
