Montreal Impact News Release

BLAINE, Minnesota - The Montreal Impact (3-3-3) started a two-game road trip with a 1-0 loss to the Minnesota Stars (4-7-2), Wednesday, at the National Sports Center, in Blaine, Minnesota. A goal by forward Melvin Tarley gave the Stars the win in the 87th minute. After getting behind the Montreal defense, Tarley headed the centering pass from Simone Bracalello, from the right side, leaving no chance to goalkeeper Srdjan Djekanovic.

Montreal came close to tying the game in stoppage time when midfielder Simon Gatti, who came into the game in the 62nd minute, hit the crossbar.

"We played a good road game, but it is disappointing to loose this way. We wanted to win this match tonight," said Impact head coach Marc Dos Santos. "Our inability to score continues even though we are having more chances than our opponents. We had more chances in the second half on counter attacks."

The Impact last win in Minnesota dates back to August 31, 1997. Montreal lost its 6th game in nine matches played in this state.

Goalkeeper Matt Jordan (groin), defender Stefano Pesoli (foot) and midfielder Tyker Hemming (scratch) didn't join their teammates on this two-game roadtrip to Minnesota and Tampa Bay.

Montreal will play the 2nd game of this trip against the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Saturday at 7pm (fctampabay.com).
