
Immediate Schedule Change Brings Tough Competition

Edmonton, AB. (June 18, 2012) - With four home games left in the Edmonton Energy's final five games, the IBL has made a change to the schedule that will now see the defending IBL Champions come to town this weekend. The Vancouver Volcanoes (8-5) will be led by Andre Murray, who has been averaging 27.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. Murray was also named IBL Player of the Week for the first week of June, an honor that the Energy's Robbie Sihota received the week prior.
The last time the two teams met was in the 2011 IBL Championship Final where Vancouver pulled out a 124-116 win over the Energy.
The schedule change will also mean that the Nippon Tornadoes (Japan) will now be playing in the Saville Community Sports Centre the following weekend (June 29-30). The team from Japan will bring an exciting International style of basketball to the court that most fans are not familiar seeing.
The last time a team from Japan appeared in the IBL was the 2009 season when the Nippon Tornadoes playing an 18-game road schedule throughout Canada and the United States.
Vancouver Volcano games: Friday, June 22 & Saturday, June 23 - 7:30pm start.
Nippon Tornado games: Friday, June 29 & Saturday June 30 - 8:00pm start.
