
Illinois Piasa to Honor Fallen Illinois State Police Trooper

GLEN CARBON, IL, 12/3/12 - The Illinois State Police lost one of their own on November 26, 2012, and a family lost a father, husband, brother, and son, when Trooper Kyle Deatherage, 32, was struck by a tractor trailer while conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 55 near Litchfield, Illinois. He is survived by his two young children and his wife, Sarah. Funeral services were held this past Saturday at Triad High School in Troy, Illinois, where Deatherage attended high school.
Illinois Piasa will honor Trooper Deatherage with a moment of silence prior to the opening kick at their home game on Sunday, December 9 at The Sports Academy in Glen Carbon, Illinois. Kickoff is at 3:35 pm, doors open at 3:00 pm. Piasa will donate 20% of ticket sales from this event to Trooper Deatherage's family for the Kyle W. Deatherage Criminal Justice Scholarship fund and the Kyle Deatherage Memorial Fund. The Kyle W. Deatherage Criminal Justice Scholarship fund will be used to support a student entering the law enforcement profession. The Kyle Deatherage Memorial Fund will be used to provide for the education of his children.
There will be representatives on hand with order forms for Kyle Deatherage Memorial t-shirts and window stickers. The t-shirts are $12.00 and the window stickers are $10.00. Proceeds will go directly to Deatherage's wife and children.
The $10.00 General Admission will be discounted $2.00 for police, firefighters, emergency responders, and veterans.
