Illinois Piasa News Release
Pontoon Beach, IL, 9/10/13 - Illinois Piasa is proud to announce the signing of Almin Sabotic for the 2013-14 PASL season. Almin was born in Berane, Montenegro. As a kid, he played locally for Busch Soccer Club and Lou Fusz Soccer Club. Sabotic was a standout at Mehlville High School where he was named 1st Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Metro. He attended St. Louis Community College at Meramec where he was an NJCAA All-American and MCCAC Player of the Year. He then transferred to the University of Missouri at St. Louis (UMSL) where he earned GLVC All-Conference, as well as All-Region, honors.
"Almin Sabotic is a special player. He has the ability to beat players on the dribble and score goals, but what makes him truly special is his ability to bring other players into the game. He is a silky smooth player." said Illinois Piasa Head Coach Doug Montroy, when asked about the signing. "I have followed Almin's career since his days at Mehlville and what stands out to me is that he is not only an exceptional player, but a solid person off the field, as well. Almin is going to be a centerpiece to what we plan to accomplish this year. I have not stopped smiling since we signed him!"
"I am very excited to be playing for the Piasa and will do my best to represent the team on and off the field. We have a great coaching staff that will prepare us for a winning season. I have always enjoyed playing indoor and this will give me the opportunity to continue to play at a high level. Our team goal is to make it out of our division and make a push in the playoffs." said Sabotic.
