Illinois Piasa News Release

Pontoon Beach, IL, 10/2/13 - Illinois Piasa is proud to announce that they have signed goalkeeper John Niebruegge for the 2013-14 PASL season. John was born in Valmeyer, Illinois and currently resides in Oakville, Missouri with his wife Amanda. He played college soccer at SIUE in 1999 and 2000.

Coach Montroy said this of John Niebruegge joining Piasa, "John is an athletic keeper with excellent distribution both with his feet and with his arm. He is the epitome of a no-nonsense, never quit on any play, goalkeeper. He is the type of guy that players love to play in front of because of his attitude and his ability to make not just the initial save, but any rebounds, as well. John is an excellent communicator and does well organizing his defense. He is a true leader. We are extremely pleased to have him on the team. John's personality and work ethic have already made him a popular teammate in training. When starting to build the team this season I wanted players with a high skill level, a desire to compete, and character. John embodies all of those traits."

"I'm incredibly thrilled to have the opportunity to play with some of the finest indoor players in the St. Louis area. It is a huge honor to be selected alongside these great athletes. I am excited to see how we match up with other cities across the nation, and I think we can be a real force to be reckoned with in the PASL. My goal is to continue to work as hard as I can and hopefully stand out as far as the keepers go. More importantly I want to push this team to be the very best that it can be," said goalkeeper John Niebruegge.

Illinois Piasa opens the 2013-14 PASL season at home on November 1 against the expansion team Tulsa Revolution. Kickoff is 7:35 pm at The Field Sports Complex in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. Tickets are available at www.IllinoisPiasa.com/tickets/ or by calling 618-334-5700.
