Pontoon Beach, IL, 9/27/13 - Illinois Piasa is proud to announce they have re-signed goalkeeper Alan Hagerty for the 2013-14 PASL season. The 6'2" goalkeeper was born in Dayton, Ohio and played his youth soccer for Ohio clubs CUSA and the Ohio Galaxy. He played four years at Centerville High School in Ohio where he earned the following awards: All-Dayton 3rd Team, All-Conference 2nd Team, as well as the 2007 Coaches Award and 2007 Army "Be All You Can Be" Award. Alan played college soccer at the University of Cincinnati. He is a veteran of the Professional Arena Soccer League having played for the Cincinnati Kings from 2010-2012 before being signed last season by Illinois Piasa. In addition to his excitement for the upcoming season, Alan and his girlfriend Ashley are expecting their first child in December.
When asked about Hagerty being re-signed, Head Coach Doug Montroy said, "Alan is a keeper with experience at the PASL level despite his youth. Alan had a strong season last year including earning PASL Player of the Week, Week 6. He has put in a lot of work in the off-season and we are expecting him to build on his strong season from a year ago. He is meticulous in his preparation and desires to become one of the top keepers in the PASL. As pleased as we are to have Alan back for this season, I know he is just as excited to be back and he is excited about the players we have signed to play in front of him."
"I am humbled and excited to return for my second consecutive season with the Illinois Piasa. During the off-season, I have been busy training and building strong relationships with my teammates. My personal goal is to lead the league in fewest goals against per game. As a team, we seek nothing less than both the Ron Newman Cup and US Open Arena Soccer Championship. We truly hope the fans and community continue to support us in our quest as they enjoy fast paced, high action indoor soccer," said Alan Hagerty about the season ahead.
"We are fortunate to have Alan with us again this season. He is a good goalkeeper and an even better person and teammate," said Piasa GM Matt Williams.
Illinois Piasa opens the 2013-14 PASL season at home on November 1 against the expansion team Tulsa Revolution. Kickoff is 7:35 pm at The Field Sports Complex in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. Tickets are available at www.IllinoisPiasa.com/tickets/ or by calling 618-334-5700.
